Bypass pruners cut by slicing past each other like scissors, which gives a clean wound on living growth. Anvil pruners crush the stem against a flat plate instead — fine for deadwood, but damaging on anything you want to keep growing.

Materials
Hardened stainless blade with a non-stick coating and moulded grips.
Intended use
Pruning roses, shrubs, soft stems, and light woody growth. Use loppers or a saw for anything the blades will not close around comfortably.

Care
Wipe the blade after use and sharpen periodically. Clean between plants when pruning diseased material to avoid carrying infection along a bed.
