Details
A raised bed in untreated western red cedar, deep enough for root vegetables as well as salad and herbs. Cedar's natural oils mean it resists rot without any chemical treatment, which matters when you are growing food in it.
Key features
- Untreated timber — no preservatives in contact with growing soil
- Depth suited to carrots, parsnips, and tomatoes as well as salad
- Corner joinery that keeps the bed square under soil pressure
- Open base for drainage and root run
Materials
Untreated western red cedar boards with corrosion-resistant fixings.
Intended use
Vegetable and herb growing, and defining beds on lawns, gravel, or hard standing.
Assembly
Flat-packed. Boards and corner posts bolt together on site. Assemble it in its final position — a filled bed cannot be moved.
Care
Cedar silvers over time. Leave it, or apply a food-safe exterior oil to the outer faces if you prefer the warmer tone. Do not use standard timber preservative on the inner faces.
What's included
All timber boards, corner posts, and fixings.
Not included
Topsoil, compost, base liner, and plants are sold separately.
Care & Maintenance
Care guidance specific to each material is included in the product details above. General guidance for outdoor pieces: rinse surfaces with clean water and mild soap, allow cushions and textiles to dry fully before storage, and keep timber, metal and stone clear of standing water over winter.
